diwa was raised in manila, phillipines alongside her siblings, she was a middle child and that didn't leave her much of being anything special. the phillipines were just as affected as the rest of the world, the omnic crisis had caused the loss of families, the loss of jobs and of stability. being born in the after, diwa knew nothing but the lasting effects, the horror and the way that omnics were treated. her parents were not lost to the war like most orphans of her time had been but rather due to an incident in a factory where they both worked which cost the lives of ten of their workers, including both of her parents.at fifteen, diwa decided to leave. take what money she had saved and go somewhere different. flights were still expensive and it was obvious by the time she got there that she had no true idea of what she was going to do. it was while she was looking for a job that she'd found a nice couple that owned a small bakery in the heart of kings row. she worked at the bakery in exchange for a home, a steady income and help with getting an education. it was in school that she'd first met lena oxton, the pair were almost instant friends.practically being raised next to lena, it was her crush on lena as they became young adults. lena had always been kind-hearted and caring with a streak of a wild side that led her to late nights, expensive concerts and a little bit of trouble. despite being a guest in her adoptive parent's home, they seemed to be fond of her even as she began to act like a teenager her age. the pair were never able to have children of their own and diwa had become their daughter, someone that they loved dearly. around the age of seventeen for diwa, lena had gone into the royal air force and before diwa knew, her best friend had disappeared in an undisclosed accident. following this, with her heartbreak, diwa had decided to following her best friend's footsteps.

following lena's footsteps, after such a wild streak was a difficult choice for diwa and her parents initially didn't approve due to the nature of what had happened to lena. she became a pilot and an engineer that helped maintain the wellbeing of the new planes that were being designed. it was mere months after her own decision to join that diwa had an accident, herself.months before, when she'd joined, she'd allowed a few doctors to run experiments on her, the decision had been that the experiments had done nothing, they were a fail and nothing was expected to come of them until diwa absorbed the electricity in one of the planes that she was working on, the electricity had moved through her body and the pain was as though she was dying but she didn't die. it tooks days for the doctors to help her find a way to control the electricity. soon after her state of being was somewhat repaired, diwa found that lena had returned but her state was not much better than diwa's leaving her nearly unable to control her own powers.emotions set her powers off which made her dangerous. it wasn't until nearly a year and a half later that overwatch managed to help diwa design her limiter. it was connected to her back and helped maintain the level of electricity she was outputting through a band on her wrist as well as her vitals to watch for spikes of emotion or anything that could endanger them. doctors and engineers worked together to help her with the limiter, as well as designing one that connected to the one she word daily to help her with better control during fights and it still took consistent visits from doctors and engineers to keep her safe.after all this, it only felt right that diwa joined lena in overwatch until it was forced to disband. being recalled alongside lena, diwa was willing to give up her life of vigilantism and working as a dancer to go back to the team who had once helped save her life and make her feel safer.
